Psalm 46:10 –He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

There are days when life gets far too congested.  The alarm wakes me, or attempts to, far earlier than I would like, but not in enough time to pace myself as I run for the door.  My work day begins with a new list of tasks on top of the remainder of yesterday’s list, and then I find that I have more work to do to fill in for others that didn’t make it in.  I return home after my work day and my two toddlers keep me entertained and active throughout the evening.

Finally, after I help put them into their beds for the night, I get a moment to rest.  Only, this rest comes in the form of cleaning up toys and tidying the house.  By the time all of this is done I can only find time for crawling into bed for the night.

On days like this it is hard to find a time and a place to simply “Be still”.  I often remind myself throughout the day to turn my thoughts to God, but rarely do I let myself find the peace or stillness that is needed for me to hear Him.

There are days I can find time to sit along a small creek or in a foggy wood to simply enjoy God’s splendor, but other days I need to find stillness in a different way.  Maybe that stillness will come from within rather from where I am or what I am doing.

Prayer:  Lord, please help me find the stillness you desire within my heart, so that I can know Your power, Your glory, and Your wisdom.  Lead me to where you need me to be, Lord, and don’t let me get in Your way.
